What are peak season surcharges?

Peak season surcharges are seasonal surcharges imposed due to increased demand when package volumes increase sharply suddenly or due to seasonal changes and holidays.

When and why are peak season surcharges imposed by DHL?

In the months of November and December 2024, DHL will impose peak season surcharges. With the peak season surcharges, DHL ensures that its network continues to operate effectively during peak seasons. In times of heavy traffic, and especially during the holiday season, DHL expands its delivery network to provide you with a reliable and timely service despite increased shipping volumes.

What are the additional costs for the DHL peak season surcharge and how is it billed by Shipcloud?

DHL imposes the peak surcharge per parcel in addition to the existing rates, surcharges and/or fees for domestic and international shipments.

When shipping via Shipcloud business rates, we bill the peak season surcharge of €0.20 per parcel to you and include it in our shipping label prices throughout the DPD peak season period. You can find out how to check the prices for shipping labels here.

📌 Please note that carriers reserve the right to adjust their peak surcharges as needed, as well as to extend or modify peak periods to reflect prevailing market conditions. An overview of all applicable DHL surcharges can be found here.
