Important information about posting and shipping labels
Posting within 10 days
Please note that your shipment must be posted no later than the 10th day after the shipping label is created. In case of late posting, DHL will charge the fee or a surcharge for posting after the deadline.
Address transmission and routing code
Make sure that you write the destination address without errors and transmit it to DHL. Based on the recipient address, a barcode or routing code is generated when the DHL shipping label is created, in which it is stored in encrypted form. If your address information is incorrect, DHL cannot determine a routing code to the recipient's address and cannot process your shipment or route it to a destination freight center. For this, DHL charges a surcharge per parcel for the routing code.
Attaching the shipping label to the package
Make sure that your shipping labels are always attached to the largest surface of the package to avoid further costs and transport delays. Shipping labels that are attached to the side cannot be read by the sorting machines in the DHL parcel centers and must be reworked manually by DHL at great expense. For this, DHL charges a surcharge per parcel for the routing code.
📌 Pickups are not possible with DHL via Shipcloud business rates.
Returns
With Shipcloud, you can easily generate your DHL return labels yourself via plugin/API or via the Shipcloud webUI and add them as enclosures to your DHL shipments. Via Shipcloud business rates you can create return labels for national DHL shipments. With your own DHL account you can also use this service internationally.
In addition, you can give your customers access to the Shipcloud return portal, where they can request and print out return labels on their own. Returns generated via the return portal can only be used within Germany.
Billing for returns labels is based on usage.
Subsequent weight corrections
Each package is reweighed on the conveyor systems by DHL using calibrated scales. Should there be any deviations from the dimensions or weight you specified when creating the shipping label, the carrier reserves the right to correct the weight and parcel dimensions and to adjust the shipping price accordingly.
The newly determined price for your shipment will be invoiced to us by DHL and we reserve the right to pass on to you these subsequently incurred shipping costs and additional charges for your shipment in the form of surcharges.
Surcharges or additional fees
DHL reserves the right to subsequently charge additional fees, e.g. for address correction, manual sorting or for island or out-of-area surcharges. The surcharge may also be applied if the actual parcel dimensions or weight do not correspond with those specified.
Shipcloud reserves the right to pass on these surcharges to you. Further information and an overview of possible surcharges can be found here.
