Truck Toll Surcharge in the Netherlands

Written by Ina Kahl

As of July 1, 2026, the Dutch government has introduced a truck toll. Under this toll scheme, truck operators are charged a fee for each kilometer driven.

The introduction of the truck toll is intended to make road freight transport more sustainable and efficient. At the same time, it results in additional transportation costs within the Dutch logistics network.

As a result of these additional costs, our carrier partners have announced corresponding surcharges. Therefore, a carrier surcharge will be applied to affected shipments as of September 1, 2026:

GLS Netherlands

  • Within the Netherlands: €0.07 per parcel

  • Outside the Netherlands: €0.05 per parcel

DHL Netherlands

  • Within the Netherlands: 1.3% of the parcel price

The surcharge will apply to all eligible shipments from September 1, 2026 onward.
