Activate DHL Online Retoure in the DHL Business Customer Portal

1. Activation for the "API Retoure" by DHL

First check in your DHL Business Customer Portal whether you have made the necessary activations for DHL Online Returns or API Retoure. If you are not sure, please contact your DHL account manager.

Good to know: If the DHL Business Customer Portal login page is not automatically displayed in English, you can change the language by scrolling all the way down to "Sprachauswahl" ("Language Selection)".

2. Assign the "Retoure" authorization to your DHL user

After logging in, click on your name in the upper right corner to open your account settings menu and click on "Manage Users" to open your user overview.

Now edit the user that you have already configured for creating DHL Standard shipments. Click on the pencil icon to edit the settings for this user.

Now assign "Retoure" permission to this specific user. Simply click on "Retoure" in the menu item "Berechtigungen" ("Roles") and assign the permission by clicking on the arrow pointing to the right. Now click on "Save" so that your changes are applied. The return functionality is now enabled for your user.

3. Copy receiver ID from the DHL Business Customer Portal

For the configuration in your Shipcloud account, you will need your receiver ID, which you can find under the menu item "Returns>> Settings>>Recipient and country overview".

Store contract data for DHL Online Retoure in your Shipcloud account

You can easily store your contract data in your Shipcloud account. You will need the following data for DHL Online Retoure:

  • Receiver ID (returns recipient)

  • Username/password

Based on the time of your registration with Shipcloud, we provide you below with further information on how to store your access data for DHLRetoure in the Shipcloud webUI.

Registration with Shipcloud from August 02, 2022

Log into your Shipcloud account or the Shipcloud webUI and select the menu item "Carriers" in the navigation bar on the left to open your DHL configuration and enter your receiver ID as well as your user name and password in the "Returns" tab.

Good to know: If you leave the username and password fields blank, we will use the username and password from the "Access data" section in your DHL configuration. Click the green "Save & activate" button on the right to have your changes applied.

๐Ÿ“Œ Please note that previously saved data will be overwritten and you will ship using your own business rates after successful activation. The Shipcloud business rates for DHL will then no longer be available to you.

Registration with Shipcloud before August 02, 2022

If you have registered with Shipcloud before August 2, 2022, please contact our support team first and we will activate your own configuration for DHL.

After activation, you will receive a confirmation email from us and can then enter your receiver ID, user name and password in your DHL configuration in your Shipcloud account under "Configurations" >> "Carriers" >> "DHL". Click on the green "OK" button on the right to save your changes.

Good to know: If you leave the username and password fields blank, we will use the username and password from the "Default" section in your DHL configuration.

๐Ÿ“Œ Please note that once you have activated your own DHL configuration, you will no longer have access to the Shipcloud business rates for DHL.

๐Ÿ“Œ Please note that only national returns within Germany are possible with DHL Online Retoure. With DHL Retoure you can also offer your customers DHL's mobile QR code return.
