Shipcloud supports return journeys that start in your sytem or in our return portal. Based on the setup, the Ship step is used in different ways:
Return journey | Ship | Return label |
API | The ship step is triggered by the API call from your system. | The return label will be provided in the API response. |
App | The ship step is triggered when your customer initiates and completes the return in the return portal. | The return label will be provided in the return portal and sent via email. |
In your Shipcloud account, you can define ship rules for each return policy.
Logistics rules
Logistics settings define the physical setup of your reverse supply chain. The setup includes:
Origin locations (regions) from where customers ship to you
Destination locations (locations) to where returns are shipped
Return options (carriers) to ship returns
From-to routing (routes) per country, and return policy
Carrier services
Carrier services can be used to ship returns from an origin location to a destination location. Carrier services are supported in 2 ways:
Type | Geographical | Use case |
Virtual | Unlimited | You can set up a virtual carrier when you want your customer to organize and pay for the shipping. Shipcloud will create a barcoded address label for your customer. |
Carrier service | Defined by carrier service | Shipcloud has teamed up with many shipping companies to offer carrier services for prepaid and tracked returns. |
